Free crochet pattern : Lapras (Pokémon)

Are you struck by the Pokemon Go fever too??

29 Mar is the last day of the Pokemon Go Water Festival Event and this means we will get to see lesser water monsters and my Favourite catch of this event, LAPRAS!!! 

 

I'm really fortunate that Lapras frequently visits my area and i get to catch him pretty often

 

 

However...... After this event Lapras no more, hence i made myself one and today i'm going to share my crochet patterns with all of you!! 

( If you prefer jigglypuff / poke ball, i have a free crochet pattern as well. )

 

Time to set your mobiles aside ( anyway no more frequent Lapras spawns >.< ) and pick up your crochet hook and yarn! 

 

 

Let's get started! 

 

We will be working in continuous round in this project unless otherwise stated.

Measurement : 12  cm long (from head to tail)  10 ccm tall  

Please note that the type of yarn used and the tension may cause variation in size.

 

Materials:

2.5 mm crochet hook

Stuff Filling

5 ply Yarn: Blue, grey, cream , Dark Blue yarn

Yarn needle

Black and white embroidery thread for the eyes

 

Abbreviations (in U.S crochet terms)

Sc      -   Single crochet

Ch      -   Chain

St       -  Stitch

Rep    -   Repeat

Sl      -  Slipstitch

Inc    -  Increase (2 sc in same stitch)

Dec   -  Decrease (1 sc over 2 stitches)

 

 

1. Head [Blue] 

R1       : Sc 10 in magic ring.  (10 sts)

R2       : Inc around. (20 sts)

R3-6   : Sc around (20 sts)

For the subsequent rounds, we will be working with 2 different colour yarn (Blue and Cream)

^While working on Cream yarn >> Carry Blue yarn and vice versa

R7-8   : (Blue Yarn) Sc 10, (cream yarn)  Sc 10 (20 Sts)

R9     : (Blue yarn) Dec, Sc 6 ,Dec, (cream yarn)   Dec, Sc 6 ,Dec, (16 Sts)

R10    : (Blue Yarn) Sc 8, (cream yarn)  Sc 8 (16 Sts)

R11     : (Blue yarn) Dec, Sc 4 ,Dec, (cream yarn)   Dec, Sc 4 ,Dec, (12 Sts)

R12    : (Blue Yarn) Sc 6, (cream yarn)  Sc 6 (12 Sts)

R13    : (Blue yarn) Dec, Sc 2 ,Dec, (cream yarn)   Dec, Sc 2 ,Dec, (8 Sts)

R14    : (Blue yarn) Dec twice (cream yarn)   Dec twice (4 Sts)

Stuff an appropriate amount of stuff filling.

Fasten off and close the gap of the head, Weave tail through last round and secure with a knot

 

2. Body [blue]

R1       : Sc 10 in magic ring.  (10 sts)

R2       : Inc around. (20 sts)

R3       : [1 sc, Inc], Rep 9 times. (30 sts)

R4       : [1 sc in 2 st, Inc], Rep 9 times. (40 sts)

R5-9   : Sc around (40 sts)

Change to cream yarn

R10-11 : Sc around (40 sts)

R12    : [1 sc in 2 st, Dec], Rep 9 times. (30 sts)

R13    : Sc around (30 sts)

R14    : [1 sc, Dec], Rep 9 times. (20 sts)

R15    : Dec, Rep 9 times. (10 sts)

Stuff an appropriate amount of stuff filling.

Fasten off and close the gap of the head, Weave tail through last round and secure with a knot

 

3. Neck Part 1 [Blue]

Ch 12, Sl into 1st Ch to form a ring

R1       : Ch 1,Sc around (12 Sts)

R2-10   : Sc Around (12 Sts)

Stuff an appropriate amount of stuff filling.

Fasten off and leave long end for sewing.

 

4. Neck Part 2 [Cream]

Ch 6

Row 1    : Sc 1 in 2nd st from hook, Sc Across, Turn, Ch 1(5 St)

Row 2-8 : Sc Across ,Turn, Ch1 (5 Sts)

Row 9   : Inc, Sc 3 , Inc, Turn, Ch 1 (7 Sts)

Row 10  : Sc Across ,Turn, Ch1 (7 Sts)

Row 11   : Inc, Sc 5 , Inc, Turn, Ch 1 (9 Sts)

Row 12  : Sc Across ,Turn, Ch1 (9 Sts)

Fasten off and leave long end for sewing.

 

5. Ears - Make 2 [Blue]

R1       : Hdc 6 in magic ring. (6 sts) 


R2-4   : Hdc Around (6 Sts)

Fasten off and leave long end for sewing.

 

6. Horn - Make 2 [Blue]

R1       : Hdc 6 in magic ring. (6 sts) 


Fasten off and leave long end for sewing.

 

7. Tail [Blue]

R1       : Sc 6 in magic ring. (6 sts) 


R2       : Sc Around (6 Sts)

R2       : [Sc 1, Inc] , Rep twice (9 Sts)

Fasten off and leave long end for sewing.

 

8. Flipper – Make 8 [4 blue 4 Cream]

Ch2

Row 1    : Sc 1 in 2nd st from hook, Turn , Ch 1(1 St)

Row 2   : Inc , Turn , Ch 1 (2 Sts)

Row 3   : Inc 2, Turn , Ch 1 (4 Sts)

Row 4   : Inc, Sc 2, Inc ,Turn , Ch 1 (6 Sts)

Row 5-7 : Sc6, Turn, Ch 1 (6 Sts)

Row 8   : Dec, Sc 2, Dec ,Turn , Ch 1 (4 Sts)

Row 9   : Dec 2, Turn , Ch 1 (2 Sts)

Fasten off and leave long end for sewing.

 

9. Shell [Grey]

Ch 15 

Row 1     : Sc 1 in 2nd st from hook, Sc Across, Turn, Ch 1 (14 St)

Row 2-11  : Sc Across, Turn, Ch1 (14 Sts)

Fasten off and leave long end for sewing.

 

10. Thorns – Make 9 [Grey]

R1       : Hdc 6 in magic ring. (6 sts) 


Fasten off and leave long end for sewing.

 

Assembly

1.  Sew the neck securely onto the body and sew the head ( cream side facing down) onto the neck

  

 

2. Sew the symmetrical pieces of the flipper together ( 1 blue with 1 cream) 

   Position and Sew the sewn flipper onto the four corners of the body 

 3. - Sew the shell onto the back of the body. 

      (I push the Row 1 inwards slightly to form a wave design at the back of the body ) 

   -  Sew the nine thorns onto the shell 

 

 

4.  Position and sew Neck Part 2 onto Neck part 1 

 

5. Fold the ears in half and sew it to the top of the head. 

   Sew the horn onto the head between the ears.

   Using Black and white embroidery thread, Sew the eyes. 

 

 

Lastly, Sew some random dark blue patches on the neck and body and it's done.
