How to Crochet a Ladybird Applique

Ladybird applique is an easy project that you can complete in less than 30 minutes . 

Completed ladybird is approximately 5.5cm (Height) by 4.5cm (Width).


Materials you need: 

a 3.5mm crochet Hook

yarn needle

Yarn - red and black 


Abbreviations (in U.S crochet terms)


Sc      - Single crochet

HDc    - Half Double Crochet

Ch     - Chain

St      - Stitch

Sl      - Slipstitch

Dec   -Decrease (1sc over 2 stitches)


Crochet Pattern

Start with Red yarn

R1  : Ch 2, 10 Hdc in Magic Ring, sl to the 1st hdc of the round to join (10 St) 

R2 : Ch 2, 2 Hdc in each St, sl to the 1st dc of the round to join  (20 St)

Change to Black yarn 

Row 1: Ch 2, 5 Hdc, Turn 

Row 2: Dec , Sc , Dec. 

Fasten off and weave in ends 


Using the picture as a reference, Sew a straight line in the middle and random spots of the red area
