Free Crochet Pattern : Penguin

Sharing with you guys a simple and quick project. It's a good crochet pattern for beginners to practise crochet, you will need to know how to do a magic ring , carry yarn and colour change.
Penguin is approximately 5 cm tall. It's so small and compact that you can make tons of them, put a keyring and hang them on your bags.
Materials you need:
a 3.0 mm crochet hook
stuff filling
8ply Acrylic yarn - white ,black and orange
yarn needle
A pair of 8 mm safety eyes
Abbreviations (in U.S crochet terms)
Sc - Single crochet
Ch - Chain
St - Stitch
Inc - Increase (2 sc in same stitch)
Dec - Decrease (1sc over 2 stitches)
Hdc - Half double crochet
Rep - Repeat
Body
Start with Black Yarn
R1: 10 sc in magic ring (10 sts)
R2: 2 Sc in each sc around. (20 sts)
R3: *1 Sc in 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc*, rep 4 times. (25 sts)
R4: Sc around (25 sts)
To make the white patch of the penguin refer to R5-11:
Alternatively, you may use the diagram as a guide

R5 (25 sts) : 1 Sc with black yarn
Change to white colour yarn and 5 sc (carry the black yarn along)
Change to Black color yarn and 19 sc (carry the white yarn along)
R6-9 (25 sts) : Change to white colour yarn and 7 sc (carry the black yarn along)
Change to Black color yarn and 18sc (carry the white yarn along)
R10 (25 sts) : 1 Sc with black yarnChange to white colour yarn and 5 sc (carry the black yarn along) Change to Black color yarn and 19 sc (carry the white yarn along)
R11 (20 sts) : *1 Sc in 3 sc, dec in next sc*, rep 4 times.
R12 (10 sts) : Dec Around
Attach the safety eyes on R4 (1st & 7th Stitch) Stuff an appropriate amount of stuff filling into the body Fasten off
Close the gap, Weave tail through last round and secure with a knot
Flipper- Make 2
R1 : In magic ring ch 2, 3 hdc, ch 2 and sl (6sts)
Pull the end to close the magic circle and trim the end.
Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.
Assembly
1. Sew Flipper to the side of the body
2. Using the diagram as a reference, sew the mouth with orange yarn
Optional : Add Blusher to the cheeks for extra cuteness :)
